Quantifying County Adult Criminal Justice Costs in Illinois
This report summarizes the work of the Budget and System Capacity Subcommittee of the Governor’s Commission on Criminal Justice and Sentencing Reform. The report is a generalized analysis for the Reform Commission. The goal of this report is to examine the county drivers of criminal justice costs and provide insight into potential fiscal and resource needs, should Commission reforms succeed in reducing the State’s reliance on incarceration by expanding the use of community sanctions and consuming more county resources.
