HB4082 & SB2675 - C Number Review

House Bill 4082 (HB4082) and Senate Bill 2675 (SB2675) would allow certain incarcerated people with indeterminate sentences to elect to have their sentence converted to a determinate sentence. The proposals would apply to incarcerated people serving an indeterminate sentence with a minimum of at least 20 years. Those individuals would be eligible to elect to have their indeterminate sentence converted to a determinate sentence, an opportunity they were denied when Illinois transitioned to determinate sentencing in 1978.
