A significant amount of time is reserved for a discussion of the broad concept of “interests of justice.” That term is used in the legislation as well as in the bill giving state’s attorneys the authority to file motions for resentencing, but neither defines it. So, please give some thought to these questions, which we hope will generate a robust discussion:

How do we weigh the many interests affected by potential changes in sentencing policy and practice?
How do we incorporate new knowledge and current research into thinking about the interests of justice?
How do the concepts of healing, rehabilitation, and redemption influence this work?
